What’s the difference between the Summit on 5/3 and BarCamp Sarasota-Bradenton on 5/4?

Which Way?What’s the difference between the Summit at the Riverwalk 2013 and BarCamp? Night and Day! The Summit is for leaders from around the state in business, technology, education and funding who want to see a broader perspective of what is going on in economic development. Big picture! The panels are chosen. There is a keynote speaker at lunch and there is a cost to attend. Reasonable for the content at $85. However if you are looking for free, this is not it. 

panelBarCamp Sarasota-Bradenton is free if you pre-register or $10 at the door. It is a crowd-sourced event. The content is determined by who attends. There is no selling so share something you love. Or have a question? hold a problem solving session. Most anything goes. It is a synnergistic, creative connection-making day. It is completely paid for by our generous sponsors. They do so because they believe in this community. They show up and speak, they are involved in Master mind groups, they mentor others and are overall GREAT community players.

Jordan Raynor is a co-founder and Partnerships Director of Citizinvestor. A widely recognized digital strategist, Jordan has spent his career solving difficult problems in government and politics through technology. Jordan most recently served as Client Director at Engage - deemed a “mega interactive agency” by Mashable. At Engage, Jordan’s primary client was the Voting Information Project - an initiative of Pew, Google and Microsoft that works with election officials to put polling place location data in uniform format. Jordan was honored as a Google Fellow at the 2010 Personal Democracy Forum.

Susie Bowie is the director of nonprofit strategy at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. She has worked at the foundation for more than 7 years and now oversees nonprofit services including training, consulting and The Giving Partner, an online tool helping donors and funders make more informed decisions about philanthropy. Last year Susie directed the first 36-hour Giving Challenge in Southwest Florida, an online giving event in which $2.4 was raised for 110 local nonprofit organizations. She was recently selected as a Hull Fellow by the Southeastern Council on Foundations and is participating in a year-long leadership program for foundation professionals.
